Feeding Instructions
These guideline amounts are a starting point and your dog may need more food depending upon age, activity and temperament. In order to reach optimal body condition, you may need to adjust food intake. This represents the total recommended volume of food per day. You should divide the total recommended feeding amount by the number of times you feed your dog per day to get the actual portion size per feeding.
- Remember to have clean, fresh water available for your dog at all times.
- Because IAMS ADVANCED HEALTH SKIN & COAT Adult Dog Food is complete and balanced for adult dogs, you do not need to add vitamin or mineral supplements
- When introducing IAMS Dog Food, gradually mix it with your dog's current food over the course of 4 days.
Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time.
1. Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days.
2. Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days.
3. Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days.
4. Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.
