Puppies: Start allowing puppies access to AvoDerm? Triple Protein Meal Formula dog food about 3 weeks before weaning. The food can be moistened to help consumption, after weaning feed the puppy 3 – 4 times per day for the first 2 months, and then from 2 – 3 times per day until reaching Adult size, and then 1 – 2 times per day. Expect to feed 1 1/2 – 2 times the Adult feeding recommendation during the puppy's growing phase. Adjust the daily amount fed so the puppy maintains a good body condition.
Pregnant Females: During pregnancy increase the feeding amount during the last 1/3 of pregnancy to 1 1/2 times the amount recommended as shown for the Adult. Avoid excessive overfeeding, maintaining a good body condition, while preparing for whelp and nursing.
Lactating Females: A nursing female can expect to need 2 – 3 times as much food as recommended in the Adult feeding guideline. Adjust the extra food given by the number of puppies and length of nursing. Try to maintain a good body condition, however with large numbers of puppies expect to have some loss in body fat for milk production.
